Dematting
$10 for every 10 minutes of extra work. This includes shaving and brushing of matted fur. Each situation will vary in price due to severity of matting, overall condition of the coat, and amount of time spent on your dog. “Matting” is a broad term we use for tangles, knots, or sometimes pelting (extreme cases), etc., in your pet’s coat.
- We often require these charges because dematting takes extra work, skill, time and a toll on our tools. It can also be uncomfortable for your pet.
- Matting can often expose or lead to skin and coat problems, which can be made worse by your pet scratching and chewing at affected areas.
- We highly recommend a recurring grooming schedule to prevent matting and help maintain healthy skin and coat. Please brush your pet regularly between appointments.
Handling fees
Assessed only when a groomer requires extra assistance from other staff or when the dog is difficult for grooming. Bad behavior may include biting the groomer or their tools, rolling, jumping or thrashing around during the bath or while on the table, or otherwise strong resistance to the grooming process. Remember, our hands are our livelihoods and we don’t like to risk being bitten.
Fleas
Additional $5 to $10 depending on severity of infestation and size of the dog. We must often bathe dogs multiple times to kill the fleas effectively, and there is a cost for us to have to flea bomb our facility. Extreme infestations are difficult to treat with 100% effectiveness.
